The Kochi centre of the Visa Facilitation Service has registered a rise in visa applications to the UK ever since it commenced operations in May 2003.
The British Deputy High Commission in Chennai has processed 18,170 applications
from Kerala in 2005 alone. The number of applications rose to 18,877 in
2006.
The Visa Facilitation Service offers smooth processing of applications,
providing advice and guidance when required. Most of the applications
come from students, visitors and work permit holders.
The Facilitation Service is the commercial partner of the British
High Commission, operating through 11 application centres in
New Delhi, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Mumbai , Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai,
Hyderabad, Cochin, Bangalore and Kolkata .
The US has also outsourced its visa-related work to Visa Facilitation
Services instead of their consulates and embassies in India since
October 2005.
