Actor Sacha Dhawan has been nominated for Royal Television Society
(RTS) award for his role in Bradford Riots, a television drama.The
RTS award function, which will held on March 13, is for excellence
in all aspects of broadcasting in Britain.
Giving due credit to Neil
Biswas for creating such drama, he said, it’s an honor that his
work has been recognized.Talking about the drama, he said, the
drama doesn’t represent a community, but tries to represent the
individuality that exists within a community and that’s what meant
a lot to him, especially in today's world.
Dhawan first came into limelight
with his portrayal of Akhtar in the Westend theatre production
The History Boys, which was later made into a film – he playing
the lead role. It later went on to tour New York's Broadway, Sydney,
Wellington and Hong Kong.
He has also appeared on scores
of television shows including Perfectly Frank, Altogether Now,
City Central and Out of Sight.
The drama, Bradford Riot,
which was first broadcasted on Channel 4 in 2006, was also nominated
at the recently held South Bank Awards.

Riots tells the tale of a young group of South Asian men whose
families and community were ruined by the riots, which were the
result of tensions between ethnic communities and right groups.
Manningham area of Bradford on July 7, 2001 experienced the worst
riots in Britain in the last 20 years.
