Haryana CM promotes NRI investing in the StateMonday, October 22, 2007
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has taken active step in wooing NRIs to invest in the state, while also considering preferential treatment in allotment of land and other fiscal incentives for NRI realty investment. Also on the agenda is the setting up of an NRI nodal office to attract investment and assist NRIs abroad in doing business in the state, with plans of allotting concessionary residential plots in valued locations to settle them. Important industrial plots in key areas may be allotted to assist NRIs in setting up their businesses. Concluding his North American business promotion tour, he said that the state was willing to consider tax concessions for NRIs akin to those given by Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The Chief Minister has recently addressed a 'Business Roundtable and Networking Dinner', organised by the Canada-India Business Council (C-IBC) in tie up with the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) and the Confederation of India Industry (CII). Automobile and textile business executives from India met their Canadian counterparts including the Magna Group that has major plans for India. The C-IBC plans to play an active role in fostering trade and investments to and from Haryana outlining their future business plans. Opportunities available to overseas businesses in Haryana were also discussed. Drumming up support for the state, he stated that Haryana has became the number one producer of automobiles, home to top IT companies and MNCs and a haven for textile industry. Recognizing the power problem in the state, the government has embarked upon an ambitious power generation program. Related Readings»Hooda’s visit brings in impressive investment
