Muksudran village, tucked away on the outer limits of Ludhiana, and carrying the distinction of having the largest number of NRIs has received a grant of Rs.10 million for establishing a model school.
Spread on an 8 acre campus and partly financed by NRI brothers
Harry and Avtar Gill with a contribution of Rs. 5 million, Chief
Minister of Punjab Prakash Singh Badal inaugurated the school
on Saturday.
Promising adequate facilities for the model school,
the Chief Minister informed the audience that the 'Adarsh' chain of schools would be established in collaboration with private entrepreneurs all over Punjab.
The school would promote underprivileged but bright students
who did not have access to quality education.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minster lauded the efforts
of NRIs to promote the cause of quality education in Punjab,
and offered financial support to such a cause Till date, 3 Adarsh
schools are functioning in Khatkar Kalan, Tohra and Talwandi
Sabo.
