NRI entrepreneurs to avail services of Facilitation CentreMonday, May 28, 2007
As promised during the 5th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in January this year, a Facilitation Centre for NRI entrepreneurs is being set up in New Delhi on May 28. The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and the Confederation of Indian Industry would participate in the establishment of the centre. A University for NRI students is also under consideration, as some State Governments have put forward their proposals. Facilitation centres have already been set up by some state governments to support NRIs in their investments in their home states. The Madhya Pradesh Facilitation Centre provides information to NRIs about investment opportunities in MP and acts as a one-point contact with the Government of MP. Similarly, the International Punjabi Chamber for Service Industry offers a single window to channelise NRI Investments from the Punjabi diaspora. This facilitation centre offer‘s NRIs a 24x7 service to exploit the financial, scientific, technical and entrepreneurial resources of NRIs for developing the tertiary sector and infrastructure in Northern India . The Non-Resident Oriya Facilitation Centre works in liaison with the NRO cell of the Government of Orissa, while the Goa Government set up an NRI Cell Facilitation in 2001 to address the concerns of NRIs.
