The famous steel giants - Ratan Tata of Tata Steel and NRI Lakshmi
Mittal of Mittal Steel, topped the world’s best CEOs list prepared
by the US stock market weekly Barron’s.
Tata and Mittal are among the 30 top corporate leaders from around
the world who enjoy great rapport in the financial community and
who would be missed by investors if they unexpectedly left their
jobs.
There are a number of chief executives who undoubtedly play
a crucial role for their organization. But a much smaller number
really matter on Wall Street, says the magazine.
Tata and Mittal are the only CEOs from the steel sector to grab
such an honorable position among others. An overview of Lakshmi
Mittal’s story will reveal about how India turned out to be a
leading incubator of multinationals.
Although, Mittal has always kept his position on the list but
it is for the first time for Tata. Also, there are three new players
including James Schiro of Zurich Financial Franck Riboud of Groupe
Danone and Satoru Iwata of Nintendo.
Talking about Tata Steel, he recently drove the industry’s $12
billion acquisition of Anglo-Dutch Corus Group, four times its
size, creating the world's fifth largest steelmaker.
The list in the magazine is complied on the basis of financial
and stock market performance and assessed intangible factors like
leadership and industry stature.
