Indian Professionals See No Future in UK
Friday , March 30, 2007

A majority of proficient in Britain under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) visas are undergoing the unusual circumstance of deportation. Most of them cannot qualify for extension under the new point based system which has been launched in November last year.

The existing HSMP migrants require re-qualifying on the basis of age, salaries, and educational qualifications to continue earning their bread and butter in the country. The immigration minister Liam Bryne will be reviewing over the modifications in view of the difficulties they have caused.

Maintaining his promise, he went through the changes and came up with the fact that several Indian professionals with PhDs and other qualifications have been served deportation orders.

The rules are unfair which overlook their benefits and welfare. Many professionals have received notices to leave the country. Large number of trainee Indian doctors in UK got the hint to face deportation as soon as the London High Court had upheld new rules which no more allows permit free training for overseas doctors.

The British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin has taken a legal action against the health department claiming that a race impact assessment was not carried out while creating the new terms and conditions.
