Economical Deals for NRI Patients in IndiaMonday, March 26, 2007
A US medical firm, Om Healthcare Providers Network Private Limited, is drawing plans to expand its horizons in Gujarat, the most industrialized state in India. It will launch its operations in Vadodara and Ahmedabad and envisages establishing a network of Indian doctors and hospitals thereby promoting the services primarily in the US, UK, and East Africa. Indeed, they are the peripheral areas from where the bulk of NRIs and foreign patients avail most healthcare facilities. Recently, Pittsburgh based Dr. Jignesh Patel who works in the realm of critical care and neonatology, has joined hands with the US based Ketul Parikh who holds a vast experience in offshore IT and BPO industries. The idea is to create a conducive network of members, including professionals, doctors, hospitals, medical tourism vendors. The group is also looking forward to offer the Indian treatments like Ayurveda and Yoga. The move is taken to make the medical treatments more economical for NRI patients in India. This will abridge the gap between Indian medical expertise and NRIs, says Dr Patel, who is alumni of Baroda Medical College (BMC). One of the factors that lead to the launch of the first of its kind venture in India is the high number of NRI patients. Most of them are Gujaratis, who come to the state to seek economical and hassle free medical services. Interestingly, 200 doctors from Ahmedabad have already signed to be a part of the network. With the fees of health care services going through the roof in Europe and US, the promoters of the private venture have slated down a multitude of marketing campaigns for the UK, US, and East Africa. These companies have already shell out a whopping Rs. 10 crore so far. In addition, a call centre is likely to come up soon in Vadodara and Ahmedabad to handle the queries of NRIs. The venture in Gujarat will be on a pilot basis and largely be dependent on the kind of functions that it has planned. The firm also has plans to expand its service platform to other Indian states. For the NRI doctors who are planning to return to India will be highly benefited from this venture.
