Chandy all praise for Non Resident KeralalitesFriday, March 02, 2007
Kerala opposition leader Oommen Chandy appreciates non resident Keralites for contributing in development works for the state in the last 50 years of its formation. It is these people who actually brought laurels to the state through their hard work and dedication, which is certainly highly commendable, said Chandy during the occasion held to celebrate the golden jubilee of the state’s first government. Though, Kerala has been making rapid strides in the field of health and education for the past 50 years, but is not able to retain the growth. Speaking on the state education, he expressed the state’s inability to make the best of the mushrooming IT sector. There was no difference between the two rival fronts in Kerala - the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) opposition, says Chandy, Either we sit in the opposition or run the government, the ideology remains the same. Taking a dig at the LDF, the minister also talked about Smart city project to be developed at a whopping amount of Rs 1500 crore ($324 million) in Kochi, saying the LDF now giving its nod as they deny for it earlier.
