Following Strabag SE’s teaming up with Indiabulls last week, it is now the turn of Multiplex of Australia to join the Indian construction industry through a tie-up with Emaar MGF for the company’s projects in Goa, Hyderabad and Kochi.

Another Australian company, Leighton Holdings struck a deal with Emaar-MGF for construction projects in Chandigarh and other projects in north India. Leighton is already associated with mining and infrastructural activities in India for the last three years.

The Flextronics Technologies electronic manufacturing facility in Sriperumbedur near Chennai is one of Leighton’s most prestigious projects. Leighton’s tie-up with Emaar is for a period of 5 years during which it will collaborate on almost 100 projects.

Last week, it was a team of representatives from Semb Corp Parks Holdings of Singapore who met political leaders in West Bengal for participation in infrastructure projects like chemical hubs and industrial parks. The International Management Group of the US has shown interest in designing and developing golf courses in India, using the Vijay Singh signature and is exploring opportunities with various real estate developers in India.

Interestingly, Indian construction companies are also bagging prominent contracts overseas. Earlier this week, Larsen and Toubro and Eastern Contracting won the Rs.610 crore deal for a residential property in Dubai Sports City.

Eastern Contracting is a construction company based in the UAE. L&T Infrastructure is also executing a residential project in Colombo.

Its domestic projects include residential properties in Chennai, Vishakapatnam, Chandigarh , Nagpur and Mumbai . The Pune-based SRK Group will also launch an overseas project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, shortly, based on the lines of their Skywing luxury project in Kochi
