Friday, January 19, 2007: Are things looking up in Bihar? Well,
if the bustling energy and enthusiasm of NRI Ravi Verma,
CEO of California based Telecommand Software and Services is anything
to go by, Bihar could well see a change in fortunes.
Verma’s belief in the latent of Bihar was expressed when
he set up a technical institute in his hometown Katihar in 2005,
and encouraged by its success, is now planning a modern engineering
college in his home state.
Verma is in Patna to attend the global meet starting on 19th
January 19, 2007 organized by a Bihar-specific portal of NRIs
and the Institute for Human Development. President A.P.J.Abdul
Kalam will be addressing the event. Verma has a six-point
strategy for investment
by NRIs from Bihar which will be shared during the
event.
Joining Verma are other very motivated NRIs
who are willing to invest in the Nitish Kumar government’s
growth plan. R. Narayan practicing cardiology in Manchester is
keen to start medical centres offering free services to heart
patients. Ramesh Yadav, hotelier in the US,
is ready with a proposal for hotel projects in Bihar.
NRIs at the global meet for Bihar have appreciated the change
in the situation in this once lawless state, observing the less
corrupt bureaucracy and improved law and order situation in the
recent past. This was encouraging NRIs from Bihar to reconsider
the state for investment.
