NRI Gets Hold of 50% in Unitech’s Overseas Investment Arm
Monday, December 18, 2006

Indonesian-based NRI, Prasoon Mukherjee has acquired 50% stake in Unitech Corporate Parks, an overseas investment arm of Unitech Ltd which earlier raised £360 million on London Stock Exchange’s junior venue, the alternative investment market (AIM).

The company has raised $698 million through an initial public offering (IPO) of 360 million shares on AIM. The proceedings will be used to finance six commercial real estate development projects. Of this, four are IT SEZs and one IT park in the NCR region, and an IT SEZ in Kolkatta.

According to sources, Unitech Corporate Parks Plc. was recently registered in Isle of Man as joint venture between Unitech and Prasoon Mukherjee, who is known for his close acquaintance with the Indonesian based Salim group. It is the same conglomerate that has currently stirred up a “political storm” in West Bengal by acquiring prized real estate and SEZ projects.
