UAE Firms Jostling Hard to Carve Niche in Indian Real EstateMonday, April 16, 2007
Indian real estate is no doubt attracting large interests, especially from United Arab Emirates (UAE). In one of the real estate fairs held in the Capital, eight UAE based property developers display their properties and also checked several investment options. The Asian Real Estate Show (ARES 2007) was held in the country for the first time and saw a big participation from UAE side. Organized by Dubai-based Al Fajer Information and Services, the show was a huge success. There was a multitude of UAE based real estate companies which participated in the fair. The list included the prominent names such as Al Fajer Properties, Damac, Star Giga, Sherwood and Best Homes that are largely pumping in hotels, malls, healthcare, residential units, and IT parks in India with the major centers being Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The three days fair got succeeded in wooing major real estate players from the US, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Besides India, among others and grabbed the attention of more than 1,000 visitors. Nearly 55 per cent of the UAE populace is Indian. All companies will come to a common point to which most of the population of their country belongs. With India witnessing real estate boom, not only the UAE but the whole world seems bullish on making investments in India properties, said Iqbal Siddiqui, exhibition manager from Al Fajer Information and Services. The business scenario in India has undergone a paradigm shift which has grabbed the attention of a number of potential investors from all over the world. IN addition, the relaxation of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) norms has further given a push to investment inflow in Indian real estate, he adds.
