NRI to Take Over as President of RIBATuesday, April 10, 2007
A leading NRI, Sunand Prasad, is going to be the next head of the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects. Mr. Prasad would be the first Asian to accomplish the distinction. He is currently serving as vice president of the institute and will take over the position of President in September 2007. He has spent his childhood in Mahatma Gandhi ashram in Sevagram as his family was actively involved in India’s freedom struggle. He later moved to London when he was 12, completed his schooling in London and studied architecture at Cambridge University and founded a winning London-based architectural practice. Prasad has created an excellent network of community treatment and care centers around Belfast. There is a long term stream of social engagement of architecture and Prasad is extremely proud to be its part. Now as British Indian, Prasad is worried to draw large interests from people belonging to ethnic minorities into the profession thereby making it a true representation of modern Britain.
