Kerala plans to visit Middle East next month to search for prospective investors who can help establish industries in the state.
Elamaram Kareem, the industries minister, will lead the team
and will arrange the meetings in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait,
Saudi Arabia, Doha, Oman, and Bahrain to attract the interests
from Non resident Keralites thereby encouraging them to make
investments in Kerala, as told by John Mathai, managing director
of newly formed Infrastructure Kerala Ltd (InKel).
The team will display the reforms pushed by the government in
the state. And, the proposed Rubber Park in Ranni in Pathanamthita
district and the proposed Electronics Hardware Park at Kochi
will be put on display.
The minister also held a meeting with the top brass of Apollo
Tyres and central ministers during his visit to Delhi last week.
Apollo Tyres has agreed to be the anchor customer at the proposed
Rubber Park.
The visit is planned at the time when the proposed
Smart City project to be developed by the Dubai Internet City
(DIC) at Kochi is waiting for the final approval by the V.S.
Achuthanandan government at next week's cabinet meeting.
