India has decided to take up NRI Doctors issue with Britain.
Also, the country has promised to provide all the possible help
in finding appropriate jobs to the medicos who could be affected
by the new immigration rules.

As such, the Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has said that
he will write to the Britain Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt
to ensure to treat NRI doctors fairly and equally. Ramdoss who
himself is a doctor has all praises for BAPIO.

He has given his words to extend all the required help in finding
good jobs for doctors who want to return to India. Commending
the efforts of the minister to resolve the issue, Dr Ramesh Mehta,
the president of BAPIO, is grateful to the Government of India
to help the affected doctors.

During the meeting, Mehta presented all the up gradations the
minister about the progress in the legal case of Indian doctors.
The Minister seems to be extremely worried about the way the Indian
doctors were being treated. The move may affect a number of medical
research collaborations between the two countries.

Two lists can be shortlisted in case the new immigration rules
that came into force in April 2006 are applied for job applications.
One will contain UK and EU citizens whereas the second will feature
Indian and other overseas doctors. The latter would only be considered
for jobs that are not filled using doctors in the first list.

This clearly implies a dark future for the doctors from overseas
who would have made development in their career if selection had
been made purely on merit. BAPIO has appealed the court and is
waiting for a date for the hearing.

UK Health Department has not implied the new rules regarding
the current recruitment process to almost 20,000 jobs in the UK.
