Non Resident Overseas Association of Bengal (NROAB), an organization
of all Non Resident Indians of Bengal origin residing at Middle East,
Asia Pacific, Central Asia & African countries has recently launched
its operation during an inauguration ceremony held at Doha, Qatar. The
formal Inauguration of NROAB was done by H.E Dr George Joseph, Ambassador
of India to Qatar.
This organization is formed with the primary objective to meet the
common interest and needs of all Non Resident Indian's of Bengal origin
staying overseas for proper liaison with State and Central government
in providing residential housing in various regions of West Bengal through
exclusive allocations for NRI's, opportunities for Commercial and Industrial
ventures in different sectors, seat allocation in Professional courses
(Engineering, Medical, Management studies etc.) in Government &
Private Institutes / Universities and to provide various facilities
and benefits to NRI's in tourism, insurance and similar other areas.
A Central Managing Committee of 25 members has been formed from representatives
of NRI's residing in various Asian and African countries headed by Nilangshu
Dey as its President. The NROAB delegates have requested state government
to open an NRI cell to liaison with overseas Bengalis for mutual interest.
Initially to start with , Ministry of Commerce and Industries has allocated
their Special Secretary for liaison with NRI's matters and inform thru
NROAB about various information of interest to NRI's of Bengal .
