NRI panel Assures US Fund for BangaloreMonday, January 07, 2008
The US India Political Action Committee, a forum that represents Indian Americans has promised the Bangalore state government that it will it will channelise US (including NRI) investment and new technologies into Bangalore provided the state Government promises good infrastructure. The committee has further said that they will be in a position to influence US investors if they were convinced that infrastructure and red tape would not pose problems. The idea of the investment has come after talks with corporate leaders N R Narayana Murthy and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw who briefed the panel on Friday on investment climate in the state and need for better infrastructure in Bangalore. Said Sanjay Puri, committee founder and chairman revealed that they are eager to channelise both money and technology to Karnataka. He also added that they will wait for the new government to come in before sending the proposal. According to committee member Abhi Shah, the committee has told the
Haryana government that it would try to get more US investment as the
government had promised improvement. If the Karnataka government too
could interact with us, we could work for higher US investment there.
