Naveen Kumar Sharma, a non-resident Indian from USA is setting up
the country's first multimedia museum at Nalanda. Located in Bhara,
Nalanda is well known for its ancient site of Buddhist learning, Nalanda
University.
Prachin Bharat Tourism, a Bangalore-based company, run by Sharma, is
setting up the museum at a cost of Rs 100 million. The museum is all
set to open on January 26, 2008.
Noticeably, this is the first formal investment by an NRI in Bihar in
the last two years. The Bihar government has been trying to attract
foreign investment in agriculture, health, IT and tourism.
Mr Sharma revealed that the multimedia museum will display case the
heritage of Nalanda in a more striking manner. He also added that the
museum is being set up with a public-private partnership and it will
have six sections providing detailed information about Nalanda and its
heritage.
