It is always a matter of pride for Indians abroad when any fellow
Indian hits new milestone in a foreign land thereby carving a
competent niche. Such has been the success accomplished by Bob
Dhillon, who has made all his friends hold their head high by
grabbing the title of the youngest and the biggest Indian landlord
in Canada.
This youngest Indian Canadian millionaire lords over more than
5,000 residential properties across Canada - from Vancouver to
Calgary to Edmonton to Toronto to Missisauga. And, his Mainstreet
Equity Corporation is the only Sikh owned company listed on the
Toronto Stock Exchange.
Bob Dhillion is born and bred in Japan and his family comes from
Tallewala Village near Barnala. "My grandfather left the
village long ago for Hong Kong where he started a North China
Shipping Company to carry goods to and from Japan, says Bob remembering
the achievements made by his forefathers.
He calls his group the Holiday Inn of apartment buildings in Canada
and claims to be a leader pioneering the mid market properties
i.e. any property with less than 100 apartments. We are the pick
of all top-ranked market research groups, and our stock has risen
by 100 per cent during the last 120 days, says Bob with a big
smile.
In addition to real estate, the young Indian-Canadian also set
up the Pan Pacific Mercantile Group to export North American brands
like Tabasco to South Asia. Commenting on the booming property
market in India, he shows his firm belief in mettle of the country
but ends on a warning note, "India should be quick to tap
its NRI
diaspora as China has done, financially, and intellectually.
