To preserve the rich heritage, Government of Rajasthan has called upon
NRIs, Non-resident Rajasthanis, individuals, organisations and corporate
houses to sponsor the conservation works of fragile monuments through
Adopt- a-Monument scheme. It calls for public-private-participation
for preserving rich heritage. Rajasthan recently bagged the 'Conservation
of Monuments' award at the 'Hospitality India and Explore the World
Annual International Award-2008.'
The scheme envisages adoption of a monument by any person with a view
to restoring and thereafter maintaining it for a period of ten years
in accordance with a conservation plan drawn by the Department of Art
and Culture. Under the scheme, the state government will create a heritage
fund, which will finance different conservation projects. Both individuals
and business houses have been asked to contribute to support the endeavours
of the state. Rajasthan government will offer an exceptional publicity
mileage to the donors, by advertising their contribution on their website.
Corporate houses too can project their donations in their advertisements.
