Mira Nair to Receive 'Pride of India' AwardTuesday, April 24, 2007
Mira Nair, the renowned New York based film director, will be honored with the prestigious 'Pride of India' award at a Bollywood awards show to be organized on May 26 at the Nassau Coliseum, New York. Nair has delivered a number of superhit movies. Of which, the ones that have surly work wonders include The Namesake, Monsoon Wedding, Mississippi Masala, The Laughing Club of India, Hysterical Blindness, and Vanity Fair. A Harvard university graduate, Nair made her debut feature Salaam Bombay in 1988. She will receive the award from the Bollywood Group - a South Asian entertainment company. Expressing extreme ecstasy, Mira had all praise for such shows that gives recognition for existing talent and encourages new and innovative talent. A number of celebrities will be performing at the show. The list includes the names like Bipasha Basu, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, Urmila Matondkar, Soha Ali Khan, Neha Dhupia, Kangana Ranaut and Mona Singh. |
