NRIs in London are increasingly cashing in on the demand for Indian food known for its spicy flavor. Catering to not just NRIs but also to visiting Indians, the food at these authentic Indian restaurants in London is equally relished by the British.

The trend was started by Dean Mohamet, who changed the way British
conceived Indian food by opening up the first Indian eatery in UK in
1810.

When he opened his Indian restaurant, the Hindoostan Coffee House,
in London, he created a stir in the culinary circles in Britain. He
introduced authentic Indian food, paving the way for more Indian restaurants
in UK.
Over the years, the number of eateries in United Kingdom serving Indian
food has gone up.

Not only business entrepreneurs but people from other
disciplines are also entering the restaurant industry. The latest to
join the bandwagon is Mashood Siddiqi, a consultant physician who recently
opened a five-star restaurant, Mayur, in Liverpool.

The famous Indian restaurants in London include Chor Bizarre, Deya,
Zaika, Bukhara and a host of others. Ranging from small outlets to
five-star restaurants, NRIs in London are offering an exhaustive menu
comprising of healthy, spicy, grilled or fried options catering to
different palates.

The most favored dish by the British is the humble
Indian curry. Keeping up with changing time and culinary preferences,
Indian restaurants in foreign lands are now turning towards healthy
food options like grilled and baked seafood and vegetarian cuisine.
