Kerala Announces NRI Student Quota in State Colleges

The state government has arrived at a consensus with the administrative
boards of 8 self funded medical colleges in Kerala on the allocation
of seats and fee schedule for the ensuing academic year. Similar
details are still to be worked out with the managements of medical
colleges under the Inter-Church Council for Education (ICCE).
As per the terms of the agreement with the 8 government colleges,
an equal distribution of seats between the open merit and management
quota has been decided upon.
In the colleges run by minority
communities, the government would appoint 10% students from the
merit list. For NRI students, 15% of the seats in the management
quota would be reserved for them.
NRI students in Karuna Medical
College, MES Medical College, and Kannur Medical College would
have to make a payment of Rs.5.5 lakh as an annual fee and Rs.
5 lakh would be secured as a deposit. For the Pariyaram and
Kochi cooperative medical colleges and the SUT and Karakkonam
medical colleges, NRI students would have to shell out Rs. 9 lakh
as an annual charge
